Former Oregon Governor’s Son Released from Hospital After Car Accident

PORTLAND, Ore. – John Kitzhaber’s son, Logan, sustained injuries that were not life-threatening and has been released from the hospital after police said he sideswiped a motorhome and crashed on Highway 101 near Lincoln City on the Fourth of July.

The 18 year-old Kitzhaber, was driving a 2008 Toyota Prius south on Highway 101 near Devil’s Lake Road when the car crossed the center line and sideswiped a 1988 motorhome, according to preliminary investigative reports from Oregon State Police.

Logan Kitzhaber was taken by air ambulance to Oregon Health and Science University. Oregon State Police initially said Kitzhaber’s injuries were life-threatening, but later said he was seriously injured.

He was released from the hospital.

The driver and passenger of the mobile home sustained injuries that were not life threatening and were taken to North Lincoln Hospital.

Highway 101 was closed for an hour after the crash.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or the driving behavior of the Prius was asked to call OSP at 503-375-3555.
