The incident occurred shortly after a senior lawyer in Quetta, who had been shot while on his way to work, was transported to the hospital for treatment. The explosion went off where a group of lawyers were gathered together. There are reports that journalists are also among the dead.

Doctors at the hospital say that the death toll may increase, as there were many people present at the time of the explosion.

Many of those killed in Monday’s explosion were Pushtoon Lawyers who countered the taliban narrative in a city notoriously called the home of the taliban Quetta shura.
