Hwy 20 Driver Charged In Fatal Crash

Bend, Ore. – David Fincher, 45, of Sherwood, the driver in a crash that killed a two tear-old girl Sunday, had a blood alcohol level of 0.15.

The legal limit in Oregon is 0.08 percent.

The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 20 near Couch Market Road, according to Deschutes County Sheriff’s.

Fincher was arraigned Monday in Deschutes County Circuit Court on charges of first-degree manslaughter, five counts of third-degree assault and drunken driving.

According to OSP, Fincher was driving a black 2000 Toyota Tacoma pick-up east on Highway 20 when he lost control negotiating a corner and crossed
into oncoming traffic.

The truck collided with a 2104 Volkswagen Jetta heading west driven by Sarah Peterson, 37, of Bend. Inside the car were the 2-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy.

The girl suffered fatal injuries and the boy was taken to St. Charles Bend with injuries.
