Bend, Ore. – OSU- Cascades is offering students more incentives for students to park on campus.
Since classes started in September at its new campus on Bend’s west side, students who drive to school, have been taking advantage of free street parking in the neighborhood on SW Chandler Avenue.
The university has talked with the city of Bend about placing restrictions on Chandler and other nearby side streets like 2-hour parking signs or limited parking to only one aide of the street, but the city has said the parking situation does not meet its threshold to intervene.
School officials as of Sept. 30, have reduced the on-campus parking fee from $5 to $2 a day- and parking is free for carpoolers and free all day on Fridays.
The University has been encouraging students to walk, bike, or use public transit to campus.
