iStock/Thinkstock(WASHINGTON) — Gas prices are heading down since the presidential election last week.

In the past week, the price of regular unleaded gas has dropped about five cents to $2.18 a gallon, according the latest figures out from the U.S. Energy Department.

While the weekly average is down from the previous week, it’s still higher than what the country was paying a year ago at this time.

Drivers in Ohio have seen the biggest drop in the past week. The average price for regular gas there fell from $2.09 to $1.98.

The cheapest gas in the U.S. can be found along the Gulf Coast, however, where a gallon of regular costs drivers $1.97 on average.
