For almost 80 years, the iconic deli has served monster sandwiches containing at least a pound of pastrami, corned beef and other meats to customers in town or visiting from around the world. Customers with a sweet tooth could buy cheesecake portions over 1 pound per serving.

“I haven’t been here since I was a little girl so it was just important that I come one last time before they close tomorrow,” one Carnegie Deli fan told ABC News Friday.

Restaurant owner Marian Harper-Levine, a second-generation owner, told staff in October that she was closing the deli after she said the long working hours had taken a toll and she wanted to enjoy life.

“Moving forward, Marian Harper hopes to keep her father’s legacy alive by focusing on licensing the iconic Carnegie Deli brand and selling their world-famous products for wholesale distribution,” Cristyne Nicholas, spokesperson for the Carnegie Deli, said according to ABC affiliate WABC-TV.

Although the deli closes at midnight, sandwich fans can still visit a Carnegie Deli location in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and another in Las Vegas. Plus, you can buy select products and more from the deli’s website at CarnegieDeli.com.
