Bend, Ore. – Bend has recently been ranked as a prime area in the U.S. to invest in a home for a lifetime in the “2017 Best Places to Buy a Forever Home” report by personal finance website, GoodCall.com.

“When thinking about where to purchase a home to settle down, you want to look for a place that will be a good investment in the long run,” says Claire Etheridge, Data analyst for GoodCall.com. “Cities that are affordable and exhibit growth in homevalues and population dominated the list. High educational values and low unemployment indicate a place where one can
prosper while a low crime rate will keep the family safe and comfortable in their forever home.”

GoodCall analyzed 509 cities nationwide. Bend was ranked the #55 in the U.S. for it’s affordability, low crime and unemployment rate, growing population, and strong educational values.


Cities were ranked on six criteria:

● Affordability – The median selected monthly
owner costs as a percentage of household
income
● Net Migration – percentage population change
between 2010 and 2015
● Unemployment – percentage of unemployed
citizens
● Home Value Recession Recovery- The change in
median home value between 2009 and 2015
● Crime Rate – The number of crime incidents per 1,000
residents
● Educational Values – The percentage of residents age 25
or older with a bachelor’s degree or higher and/or high
school diploma or higher
