Man Found Dead After Wandering Sunriver with a Neck Wound

Sunriver, Ore. – Local law enforcement are still investigating the suspicious death of a man in Sunriver Sunday morning.

The man had been wandering the streets of the resort south of Bend early Sunday bleeding from the neck, according to a press release from the Sunriver Police Department.

Sunriver Police as well as Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office deputies are continuing to field calls from people who saw or interacted with the man shortly before he died. By 9:30 a.m. Monday, up to 6 calls had been received .

Police said the man was residing locally, but doesn’t appear to have had any immediate family in the area, and his identity is being withheld as police continue to try to notify his family. Police describe him as a white man in his mid-30s.

At about 10:30 a.m. Sunday, police responded to an anonymous report of a man bleeding from the neck area and walking near the roundabout at South Century and Abbot Drive. Two officers responded but could not find him.

At about 11:45 a.m., police received a second call about a bleeding man, this time on the bike path near Woodland Lane. Officers responded, and with the assistance of Sunriver Fire medics determined that the man was dead.

Authorities said it is unclear whether anyone else was involved in the death

Sunriver Police said a weapon was found at the scene, but they’re not revealing what type.
