Obsidian Middle School Evacuated as Precautionary Measure

Redmond, Ore. — The Redmond Police Department has responded to a report of a female being injured near Obsidian Middle School on Obsidian Avenue. A firearm was involved in the incident.

The incident led to a lockout Friday afternoon at the middle school. An evacuation of the students to a nearby elementary school followed. Police surrounded a home where the suspect was believed to be located.

The suspect is believed to still be in the area, but contained. RPD have shut down Obsidian Ave and are asking people to avoid the area.

As a precautionary measure, Obsidian Middle School has been evacuated to nearby Lynch Elementary on Kalama Ave.

Parents are urged to pick up their children as soon as possible. For parents that are unable to do so, please know that your students are safe and being supervised and bussing will run as regularly scheduled.
