
Earle Hyman in 1986; Ron Galella, Ltd./WireImage(NEW YORK) — Actor Earle Hyman, best remember for playing Grandpa Huxtable on The Cosby Show, has died at 91, The New York Times reports.
Hyman played Russell Huxtable, father of Bill Cosby’s Dr. Cliff Huxtable, on 40 episodes of the sitcom in the 1980s and early 1990s. Hyman had a long career as an actor performing the works of Shakespeare, Eugene O’Neill, Ibsen and other great playwrights not only in New York and London but also in Norway, Denmark and Sweden.
Hyman was also one of two actors who voiced the character of Panthro on the 1980s animated series Thundercats, and had a long career as an acting instructor.
