prineville-police

The Prineville Police Department and Crook County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of SE Garner Street for the report of an accidental discharge of a firearm that caused injury to the owner. The 71-year old male, believing the pistol was unloaded, pulled the trigger discharging the firearm. The .45 caliber round went through the male’s left hand and left leg/thigh area, eventually stopping in an
adjacent wall within the home.

A responding Crook County Deputy quickly rendered first aid, applying a tourniquet and bandage. The male was transported to St. Charles Medical Center for further treatment.

The Prineville Police Department reminds citizens to treat every firearm as if they
were loaded at all times.
