The Foundation Honor Roll Award highlights outstanding contributions of an individual, group or company in support of the Oregon Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation (OLSHF) to provide eye assistance, hearing assistance and eye medical assistance (such as cataract removal) to members of the community that do not qualify for insurance coverage and/or fall under low income categories.

Russell Chase, Bend/Sunrise Lions Club Sight and Hearing Chair says, “Volunteers in Medicine has been a very supportive group when it comes to assisting these individuals by providing eye examinations and working with the Lions Eye Assistance Program (LEAP) lab to get quality eyewear for their clients. The Bend/Sunrise Lions Club has worked with VIM for over 12 years, which has allowed us as well as other Lions Clubs in Central Oregon to serve many VIM clients. We’ve had a continuous relationship with VIM, working to assist them monetarily and with various other contributions, and they in turn have helped us meet our ongoing goal of “We Serve” and helped us keep our commitment to Helen Keller by being Knights for the Blind. It is due to this great relationship that VIM was chosen for this award.”
