The Crook County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the location to a report of a trespass in
progress. Before deputies arrived the call was upgraded to a report of a shooting had occurred and the
shooting victim had fled into the wooded are along the property. When Deputies arrived on scene it was
determined that the person that had been shot was Johnathan Sharp and the person who had done the
shooting was his father, Pete Sharp. Pete Sharp was detained at the scene without incident, pending
investigation.
Deputies attempted to get the Johnathan Sharp to come out of the wooded area so medics could treat his
injuries but he failed to do so. Because it was reported Johnathan may have been armed as well, the
assistance of Central Oregon Emergency Response Team (CERT) was called. A drone was used to
locate Johnathan who was hiding and eventually CERT was able to get him detained. Johnathan was
then taken to the waiting ambulance where he was treated by medics and then transported him to St.
Charles Prineville. He was later transferred by air ambulance to St. Charles Bend in serious condition.
