A Prineville man was jailed for selling meth after a month-long investigation by the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Unit. Travis Perala, 56, was being investigated for the ongoing sales of controlled substances in the tri-county area. Last Thursday, detectives learned Perala was returning to the tri-county area with possible controlled substances in his possession.
Detectives observed him traveling on a 2016 Husqvarna MC east bound on Hwy 26 near Prineville, OR. Perala was stopped near MP 17 on Hwy 26. A Crook County Sheriff’s Office K9, Jett, and his partner Sgt. Mitch Madden responded and K9 Jett alerted to the presence of controlled substances in the motorcycle Perala was operating. A subsequent search of Perala’s motorcycle revealed he was in possession of approximately 93 grams of methamphetamine (a commercial quantity), digital scale, and packaging material. Perala was also in possession of a .38 caliber handgun and a rifle.
Perala was taken into custody on the above listed charges and lodged in the Crook County Jail. The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Unit was assisted by the Crook County Sheriff’s Office and the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team (CODE.)
