Bend Police advise parents to monitor their children’s digital world after an incident in Bend recently. On August 29, 2021 Bend Police were contacted by a 32 year old female in Bend who said she was getting harassed on line by a male who located her business through a social media app. This harassment started Sunday, August 15, 2021. The male had contacted her through multiple platforms, even after she told him not to contact her. The man sent unsolicited nude photos to the victim and propositioned her for sexual purposes.

On Monday, August 30, 2021, a Bend Police Officer, posing as a 16-year-old female, communicated with the suspect through social media. During the communication, the suspect believed the female to be 16 years old and he sent unsolicited nude photos. The officer communicated with suspect until on September 5, 2021 when he gave directions to his house in Deschutes River Woods to engage in sexual intercourse.

On September 5, 2021 at about 9:45 p.m. Officers contacted the suspect near the intersection of Comanche Lane and Cheyenne Road in Deschutes River Woods and took him into custody on both cases. He was jailed on a list of charges including, Prostitution, Private Indecency, Stalking, Telephonic Harassment

Bend Police want to remind parents to stay involved in their children’s digital world, know the apps they are using and have parental controls when possible. Children should talk with a trusted adult so they understand the online risks, and only chat with people they know, make sure the online accounts are private, and block people they do not know.
