The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) was alerted to a possible threat at the main office just before 10:00 p.m. Thursday. Initial reports were of an armed subject who had discharged a round at or near the adult jail building. DCSO and Bend Police responded and secured the area, including the Sheriff’s Office and adult jail.
The suspect was later spotted in the Sunriver Business Park area. After a vehicle pursuit on Highway 97, the suspect vehicle was disabled with spike strips by law enforcement. The suspect was contacted as the result of a high-risk traffic stop and taken into custody without incident.
“This is an active investigation, there is no longer a threat to the public,” the news release stated. “Further information will be released when it becomes available.”
