Terrebonne Man Jailed After Crescent Moon Rampage

A 35-year-old Terrebonne man was eventually taken into custody on a list of charges after starting a fire and crashing a fence at Crescent Moon Ranch in Terrebonne. On July 24th, 2023, at 4:53 pm, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a report of a structure fire in the 1400 block of E Avenue, in Terrebonne. Initial reports described an unknown male starting a fire in a shed, followed closely by a large explosion sound and smoke exiting the now fully engulfed shed.

As deputies arrived on scene of the shed fire, a second person contacted Deschutes County 911 and advised there was a male subject on scene at the Ace Hardware with no shoes and rambling incoherently. Moments later a third person contacted Deschutes County 911 and reported the same male had now jumped the fence into the property of Crescent Moon Ranch.

Crescent Moon Ranch contacted Deschutes County 911 and advised the male who had jumped the fence had now stolen a ranch vehicle and was driving recklessly through the fields crashing into fences, a gate and now was back on Highway 97.

Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Oregon State Police troopers responded to the area immediately and attempted to locate the stolen Crescent Moon Ranch vehicle. The suspect male drove the stolen ranch vehicle back to the area of the shed fire and stopped the vehicle.

Deputy Witherspoon and his K-9 partner “Vinnie” were utilized to take the suspect into custody without incident or injury.

The male suspect was transported to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Adult Jail on the following charges: Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, Un-Authorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Criminal Mischief 1st Degree (3 Counts), Reckless Driving (2 Counts), Recklessly Endangering Another Person (6 Counts)
