New Fire Burning North Of Madras

A new fire, approximately 10 miles north of Madras began Sunday at 1 p.m. The Trout Creek fire is approximately 500 acres. It is burning in grass, brush, and juniper on private lands, but is threatening Prineville BLM administered lands.

Rangeland Fire Protection Association, Jefferson County, BLM, and Forest Service resources have been responding to the fire throughout Sunday afternoon. Two air tankers, two Single-Engine Air Tankers (SEATs), 10 engines and various other resources are currently working on the fire.

Motorists should be aware that there could be potential delays on Highway 97 north of Madras, Ore.
