
A shop in Crooked River Ranch was destroyed by fire Sunday afternoon. No injuries were reported. Fire crews were sent to the 15000 block of SW Steelhead Rd., where they found a fully involved 20’ by 40’ shop with fire spreading to a nearby barn and shed. Defensive fire operations were performed to contain the fire to the building of origin. The property owner’s were home at the time of the fire, which broke out shortly after noon.
Crews were successful in keeping the fire from spreading to the barn and shed which only received minor damage. The rural area has no fire hydrants. Water tenders were used to supply water for firefighting operations. Crews remained on-scene until 3:30 pm performing overhaul on the building to ensure the fire was extinguished.
The building and its contents were a total loss. The shop was estimated at $28,610 and there was no estimate on contents at this time. Major contents lost included a several motorcycles. The barn and small shed that were near the fire building sustained minor heat damage. There was no damage to the home on the property. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
