A Bend man has been arrested for killing his mother. According to Bend Police,At approximately 5:09 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, Bend Police responded to the report of a domestic disturbance at the Legacy Landing Apartments in the 2000 block of NE Tucson Way.
When officers arrived, they found a critically injured 59-year-old woman in an apartment on the premises. Officers performed CPR but the woman, identified as Janice Marie Smith, died at the scene.
Officers detained Smith’s son, 40-year-old Bend resident Joshua Lawrence Smith, at the scene.
He was transported first to the Bend Police Department, then to St. Charles Bend, and ultimately booked into Deschutes County Jail.
An investigation is ongoing.
