CASA of Central Oregon is proud to celebrate its 20th anniversary of serving children in foster care across Crook, Deschutes, and Jefferson Counties. To mark this milestone, CASA is inviting the community to an Open House on August 27, from 3:00–6:00 PM at the CASA of Central Oregon Bend office, located at 1029 NW 14th Street.
For two decades, CASA of Central Oregon has trained and supported community volunteers to advocate for the best interests of children in the foster care system. Since the merger of local CASA programs in 2005, more than 2,900 children have had a dedicated advocate by their side during some of the most difficult times of their lives.
The Open House will feature light refreshments, tours of CASA’s office, and opportunities to meet staff and volunteers. Guests will learn more about CASA’s mission, its impact in Central Oregon, and how to get involved as a volunteer advocate. Current advocates will also be available to share their experiences.
“As we celebrate 20 years as a regional organization, we’re reflecting on how far CASA has come and how much further we want to go,” said Heather Dion, Executive Director of CASA of Central Oregon. “There are currently 101 children in foster care locally who don’t yet have an advocate, and we hope this event will inspire more community members to step forward.”
In honor of 20 years of service, CASA of Central Oregon would like to recruit at least 20 new volunteers to sign up for our fall training. Training sessions will begin in early September in both Bend and Prineville.
The anniversary celebration and Open House are free and open to the public. No RSVP is required.
