On Saturday, August 30, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the Humane Society of Central Oregon (HSCO) will join the nationwide Clear the Shelters initiative with one big goal: find a home for every adoptable animal in the shelter. To help make this possible, HSCO is waiving all adoption fees for one day only. Dogs, cats, kittens, puppies, rabbits, and more will be available for adoption at no cost.
“We know Central Oregon families want to help, and this event makes it easier than ever,” said Amber Kostoff, CAWA, Executive Director of HSCO. “All it takes is walking through our doors and you might just meet your new best friend.”
Event Highlights
Along with fee-waived adoptions, the Clear the Shelters Open House will feature:
- Family-friendly activities and behind-the-scenes tours
- Bonta Gelato scooping free treats onsite
- Goodies and samples from local partners including BeGOAT, BrownBag Popcorn Co, Bend Pet Express, and GoodLife Brewing
- Games, prizes, and plenty of chances to cuddle adoptable pets
“Our community always shows up for animals, and we’re counting on that again,” added Kostoff. “With waived fees and a shelter full of amazing pets, this is the best chance all year to find them homes.”
Adoption Perks
The normal adoption process will still be in place to ensure the best matches. Every adoption includes a full care package: spay or neuter, first vaccinations, microchip ID, free health exam at a local veterinarian, collar, ID tag, pet food, and more. Bonus gifts will also be included with each adoption.
