Volunteers in Medicine, Clinic of the Cascades (VIM Cascades) is thrilled to announce the hiring of Leigh Capozzi as Director of Philanthropy and Community Engagement. Leigh brings more than 20 years of experience with mission driven brands and a proven track record of leadership across both for profit and nonprofit organizations.
“As we enter 2026, the need to support our uninsured patients has never been higher. VIM Cascades is excited to welcome Leigh into this critical role and draw on Leigh’s extensive background in communications, development, local volunteerism, and professional work within our community to support our central vision that healthcare is a necessity and should be available to the uninsured and medically underserved in our community. I’m confident Leigh will bring fresh energy, perspectives and drive impact for VIM,” says Kat Mastrangelo, VIM Cascades Executive Director.
Most recently, from 2019-2022, Leigh led marketing and communications for Mt. Bachelor. She recently joined VIM from Protect Our Winters (POW), a leading global nonprofit focused on climate advocacy, where she served as the VP of Marketing and Communications.
“After two decades working in advocacy and outdoor, I’m honored to join the VIM team and build off the exceptional and high impact work VIM has been delivering to Central Oregon for twenty years. Community is a core value to me and the vast majority of Central Oregonians, but we have much work to do to progress healthcare access for all,” says Capozzi. “I am inspired by VIM’s origin story, the exceptional staff, and the life changing care that the 170+ active providers and 300+ volunteers provide annually. I look forward to engaging community partners, sharing meaningful stories, and furthering support of VIM’s mission.”
Since 2004, VIM has delivered over $212M in community benefit to uninsured patients, including $150M in healthcare and $16M in medications. Hundreds of providers and volunteers have powered this support and, in the past year alone, have served over 500 uninsured patients with nearly $6.8M in care, services, and donated resources.
