The Popular Fall Creek Falls Trail Has Reopened

Glide, Ore. – The Fall Creek Falls Trail along Highway 138 is open for hiking thanks to quick work by a volunteer trail crew. Even with the repair to the trail, Forest Service officials advise caution while on the trail as recent rain has rendered it muddy and slippery in several areas.

The Motley Crew is group of mostly retired U.S. Forest Service employees who volunteer every Thursday, rain or shine. The crew saws through fallen trees, trims back plants, and rebuilds blowouts along trails. Their volunteer efforts are focused on the popular 79-mile North Umpqua Trail.

If hikers, bikers or horseback riders notice hazardous situations such as land or rock slides or downed trees on trails, please call the North Umpqua Ranger District at 541-496-3532.
