Oregon House Passed The First String of Contentious Tax Bills

The Oregon House narrowly passed the first of a string of contentious tax bills Thursday by a single vote.

One of bills passed is a health provider tax that supporters say will generate $550 million to pay for the medical care for low-income residents. The bill will increases taxes on hospitals and imposes a new levy on insurance premiums.

Oregon Health Authority (OHA) is urging riders to take safety precautions when using e-scooters and e-bicycles, as new data show a sharp increase in serious injuries associated with these “micromobility” or motorized devices. An analysis by OHA’s Injury and Violence Prevention Program (IVPP),
