Local cybersecurity experts, including Shanelle Allen and Toni Overton from Bend-based Redhawk Network Security, will be instructing local high school students as part of NW Cyber Camp (please see attached news release). NW Cyber Camp is a week-long camp, held July 16-20, at Central Oregon Community College. It will give students a hands-on, introductory experience to cybersecurity principles and policies, help students gain confidence and learn valuable skills, and prepare them for a future tech career.
NW Cyber Camp is helping with this “pipeline” problem. By encouraging youth to pursue jobs in cybersecurity and technology, we are enabling a win-win scenario for students as well as the companies that will benefit from their expertise. Collectively, we need to start training the next generation of tech experts!
I would be happy to put you in touch with Shanelle and Toni. They would welcome the discussing both the critical need for cybersecurity professionals plus encouraging more women in technology.
