Stocks End the Week Lower Despite Slight Gains

iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — Wall Street stocks boasted small gains Friday, but still ended the week with losses.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 6 points to finish up at 16851.84. The Nasdaq Composite gained 19 points at 4397.93, and the S&P 500 closed up the session with 4 points at 1960.96.

Nike stocks were up after the athletic company posted encouraging quarterly results, with fourth quarter revenues boosted to $7.4 billion.

Trade association Airlines for America predicts this summer will be the busiest for air travel in six years, though news isn’t as promising on the ground with General Motors starting the recall of nearly 30,000 cars in the United States.

The automaker is recalling some of its 2013 and 2014 Chevrolet Cruze models, including 4,000 in Canada.
