La Pine, Ore – A fire, which broke out around 2 p.m. on Saturday near Rosland Road, 4 miles
northeast of La Pine, Ore, stayed within containment lines throughout Sunday and is 30 percent
contained at 393 acres as of this evening.
Approximately 180 firefighters as a part of the Type 3 Team, which took over management of
the fire this morning, worked throughout the day to strengthen containment lines and mop-up
hot spots within the interior of the fire.
Winds stayed mellow in the afternoon, which helped keep the fire within containment lines. By
10 a.m. the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Department dropped the evacuation level on
approximately 150 homes in Newberry Estates from Level 1 “Get Ready” to no evacuation level.
Tonight, and tomorrow firefighters will continue to secure line and do water hose lays
throughout the fire to maintain control of the fire.
