Brian D. Kersey/Getty Images(ATLANTA) — The Atlanta Braves finalized a four-year, $6 milllion deal with Cuban outfielder Dian Toscano on Wednesday.
The Braves and Toscano actually reached the deal in early December, but it took almost two months to work out the requirements that would allow Toscano to enter the U.S.
Left-handed hitting Toscano, 25, had a .356 batting average with a .892 OPS while playing for Villa Clara in Cuba during the 2012-13 season.
The contract comes with a $1.2 million signing bonus and a $1.7 million club option for 2019.
Toscano helps the Braves replenish an outfield that lost Jason Heyward, Justin Upton, and Evan Gattis.
The Braves designated Jose Constanza for assignment to make room for Toscano on the 40-man roster.
