Deschutes River Woods Fire Leads To Evacuation

Homes were evacuated on Cinder Butte Road and Apache Lane Sunday in the Deschutes River Woods area south of Bend after a brush fire grew from strong winds. Residents who were evacuated will not be allowed back into their homes until smoke had been reduced and more overhaul of the fire is completed, according to a news release from Bend Fire and Rescue.

Bend Fire Crews were dispatched to a brush fire at 60232 Cinder Butte Rd. where the fire quickly spread across the yards of  four lots, burning debris, vehicles, and out buildings. No residential structures were involved. Mutual aid from Alfalfa, Cloverdale, Sunriver were dispatched to help.

The fire was reported to be about one acre in size and was “being overhauled” Sunday, according to Bend Fire & Rescue.
