Marvel boss Kevin Feige reveals why Dr. Strange was not in 'WandaVision'

The much anticipated appearance of Doctor Strange on Disney+’s first Marvel Studios small-screen hit WandaVision never happened, and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has finally explained why.

Feige tells Rolling Stone that Benedict Cumberbatch‘s Sorcerer Supreme was indeed set to show up in the Disney+ show’s finale, as many fan sites had rumored: those creepy “commercial breaks” during the series were to be revealed as coded messages Strange was sending to Wanda as he, “attempted to break through her sitcom fabrication.”

However, the Marvel movie head says the idea was scrapped because, “it would have taken away from Wanda. We didn’t want the end of the show to be commoditized to go to the next movie — here’s the white guy, ‘Let me show you how power works.'”

The two magic wielders will share the screen, however. It was revealed that Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, played by Elizabeth Olsen, will appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, opening March 25, 2022.

Marvel Studios is owned by Disney, the parent company of ABC News.
