Redmond Police Arrest Car Chase Suspect And Thank Public For Help

Redmond, Ore. – Today a man is facing several charges in the Deschutes County Jail and the Redmond Police Department says the public played an important role. The Redmond Police Department is thanking the community today.

On March 23rd a Redmond Police Department Officer was involved in a vehicle pursuit after a driver attempted to elude a police officer attempting to make a traffic stop. During the pursuit the vehicle crashed and the driver fled on foot.

After the initial search for the suspect ended, the investigation into the pursuit continued. The public’s assistance was sought helping to identify the vehicle’s owner. The owner was eventually identified and contacted. The vehicle was returned to the owner. Evidence recovered from the vehicle, along with information obtained from the public, led to identifying Kylian Beitz as a suspect.

On April 6th, Beitz was contacted during another traffic stop driving the same suspect vehicle from the pursuit. After allegedly attempting to give a false name to the Officer, his identity was confirmed and he was arrested.

He was taken to the DCSO Jail on the crimes of: Attempt to Elude a Police Officer – Felony, Attempt to Elude a Police Officer – Misdemeanor, Reckless Driving, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, PCS – Methamphetamine, False Information to a Police Officer and two warrants for his arrest. The passenger in the car at the time of Beitz’s arrest was identified as Chardae Baird. She was arrested for a probation violation.
