Sunriver Stars Community Theater (SSCT) is taking guests back in time for its next production, “Radio S.T.A.R. (Sunriver Thespians as Readers),” a nod to old-time mystery theater. The show will take place at 7 p.m. June 1-2 and 2 p.m. June 3 at The Door Three Rivers, 56885 Enterprise Drive.

“Our cast is thoroughly enjoying portraying many varied characters in these two scintillating mystery stories,” said Director Susan Evans Inman.

The production will feature two performances, “A Sherlock Holmes Radio Mystery” adapted by Jon Jory, and “In Memoriam” by Marlene Remington. With little to no memorization required, the roles were open to a wider range of the community, Inman said. Particularly seniors who are great actors, but may struggle with memorization.

“At least occasionally, we offer them a chance to shine by presenting a ‘radio show’ in which they have scripts right there on stage,” she said.

The Holmes mystery features an authentic adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle’s short story, “A Scandal in Bohemia,” with a fast-paced, comedic and meticulous story line. “In Memoriam” is a fast-moving, chilling murder mystery. Five people gather on an isolated island for a weekend house party turned nightmare as one person after another is accused of murder, and is then murdered – each by a different method.
