Housing Works, a leading housing organization, disclosed today that the waiting list for the Housing Choice Voucher Program, formerly recognized as the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Section 8 program, will re-open on Monday, January 8th, 2024, at 8:00 am PST and will close on Friday, January 12th, 2024, at 5:00 pm PST.

The HCV Program is accessible to low-income eligible residents within Deschutes, Jefferson, and Crook counties. Interested applicants are required to submit their applications online through the Housing Works’ official website, www.housing- works.org.

The time you apply during the week does not impact your position on the list. All applications received during this period will undergo a randomization process facilitated by a computer system, ensuring an equitable opportunity for all applicants. Lesly Gonzalez, HCV Director at Housing Works, emphasized, “If you were on the waiting list for 2023 but didn’t get selected, you must apply again for the 2024 list. This is an annual requirement as applications do not carryover from one year to the next.”

For the convenience of applicants, Housing Works staff will be available to offer technical assistance at both the Redmond and Bend Office either in person, over the phone, or via email from 8:00 am PST to 5:00 pm PST on the specified dates.

Applicants are strongly advised not to postpone seeking technical support until the final day of the waitlist week. For further information or inquiries, please contact Lesly Gonzalez, HCV Director, at 541-323-7416 or lgonzalez@housing-works.org.
