Car Crashes Into Power Pole

Helmholtz Way in Redmond has reopened after a driver crashed into a power pole Sunday night. According to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 7:50 p.m. to a reported single-vehicle rollover crash that sheared a power pole along SW Helmholtz Way near SW Canal Blvd. The crash resulted in multiple active power lines hanging low over SW Helmholtz Way.

An Oregon State Police trooper arrived first on scene and made contact with the driver, who was trapped in a Tesla resting on its roof. Redmond Fire units arrived and have begun extrication efforts. An air ambulance was requested for transport.
