Redmond Welcomes New Fire Chief

Redmond Fire & Rescue welcomes new Fire Chief Ryan Herrera, who will join the department on March 18, 2024.

Herrera comes to Redmond Fire & Rescue with 30 years of Fire & EMS experience, according to a news release from Redmond Fire & Rescue. He began his public service career as a Firefighter/EMT with Port Orchard Fire Department (WA) in 1994 and has spent the last 26 years with South King Fire and Rescue (WA).

Herrera worked his way up the ranks, serving in leadership positions as Lieutenant, Deputy Fire Marshal, Captain, and most recently Battalion Chief. He also brings 18 years of labor experience having served as Trustee, Secretary, Vice President, and President of IAFF Local 2024 (WA).

Chief Herrera has a Bachelor of Science in Fire and Emergency Management from Purdue University Global, and a NWCG Medical Unit Leader certification from Colorado Wildland Fire & Incident Management Academy.

Construction Safety Summit in Bend Jan 26-27

A two-day training conference in Bend will offer safety and health training for workers in the residential, commercial, and industrial construction industries, as well as insights for employers about how to address hazards. The Mid-Oregon Construction Safety
