The Oregon Beverage Recycling Cooperative, parent organization to BottleDrop, announced today that it has donated a total of $10,000 through its Containers for Change program to honor National Senior Citizens Day, celebrated on August 21. Ten nonprofits that support Oregon seniors each received a $1,000 donation.
“We are calling attention to National Senior Citizens Day to express gratitude for the lives and legacies of the older adults in our state and to honor their lifetimes of hard work,” said Devon Morales, vice president of external affairs for OBRC. “It is incredible to learn from our nonprofit recipients about how the Containers for Change donations will be put into action to serve Oregon seniors, from purchasing a refrigerator for the food pantry to providing a safe place for members to participate in social events. The nonprofits we are supporting are doing their part to ensure Oregon’s seniors stay connected in their communities and have access to needed resources.”
The featured nonprofits receiving support include:
Each of these nonprofits also participates in the BottleDrop Give program, which supports fundraising efforts year-round. Supporters can connect with the nonprofit directly to get Blue Bags to fill with their bottles and cans, or Green Bag customers can donate online directly to the nonprofit’s account. Customers can search for participating nonprofits on BottleDrop’s website.
The Containers for Change program makes it easy for Oregonians to give back to their communities. BottleDrop customers can participate by leaving bag tag stickers off their Green Bags and returning them to any BottleDrop facility. OBRC uses 100% of the funds from the containers in those bags to support nonprofits, advocacy organizations and foundations across the state.
