Clackamas, Ore. – Today at about 5:57 AM, an OSP Trooper was working patrol in a highway construction zone on I-205 near milepost 14. The trooper observed a southbound 1998 Chevy Sedan, traveling at 76mph in a 55mph zone.
As the trooper was catching up to the vehicle, it attempted to take the SR224 exit (milepost 13) and left the roadway, striking a bridge support. The trooper pulled up behind the vehicle with lights activated and the driver left the scene, despite vehicle damage and a flat tire. The driver failed to yield for a short distance eventually stopping after the wheel disintegrated.
Vicente BURCIAGO, age 25, of Beaverton, was arrested for DUII, Attempt to Elude in Vehicle, Reckless Driving and Hit and Run – Property Damage. BURCIAGO submitted a breath sample of .16% and was lodged at the Clackamas County Jail.
OSP was assisted by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.
