The National Weather Service in Pendleton has issued a Fire Weather Watch for abundant lightning, which is in effect from Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday evening (7/8/2025). A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible Red Flag Warnings.

Fire Weather Zones impacted are the Central Mountains of Oregon and Southern Deschutes National Forest from Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday evening.

Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended. Storms are mostly expected to be dry with rainfall amounts less than a tenth of an inch, though a few storms could produce rainfall amounts in excess of a tenth of an inch. Winds as high as 45 mph.
