Redmond Police Academy Accepting Applications

rpd-2

The Redmond Police Department is accepting applications for the 2025 Citizen Academy.  This year, classes are three hours in length which will allow for more time for attendees to interact with police department officers and staff and learn more about their police department.

We will be discussing all types of topics to include an overview of the department, patrol operations, investigations, records and business/budgeting, and sharing information about specialty assignments and skills, such as UAS/drone, Drug Recognition Expert, traffic enforcement/safety, CERT (aka, “SWAT”) and more.

The academy will include guided tours of Deschutes County 911 and the DCSO Jail, and of course, our new building!  Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in two ride-alongs with officers while the academy is in session, September through November.

Classes are held on Wednesdays, beginning September 10 through November 12, 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at our new facility located at 111 NW Teak Ave, Redmond, OR, 97756.

Details on the class agenda for specific dates will be provided to those selected to attend.

Class attendance is limited to 15 people.  This is to allow for a small group environment and more time for attendees to interact with topic presenters.  Attendees living within the city limits of Redmond will be prioritized over applicants from outside the city limits.  If space allows, attendees from nearby communities, such as Terrebonne, Eagle Crest, and other north county areas immediately surrounding Redmond, will be allowed to attend.

APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY 5 PM ON JULY 31, 2025
