A woman was arrested after police say she intentionally set fire to her home at the Green Acres RV Park south of Redmond. According to Redmond Fire & Rescue, at approximately 11:30am Thursday, fire crews were alerted to a report of a possible structure fire at the Green Acres RV Park. Multiple callers were calling 911 advising of a large column of black smoke could be seen coming from the park.

Responding Deschutes County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on scene first and advised that an RV was full engulfed with fire spreading to other trailers and fire threating nearby propane tanks. With this information the incident commander requested additional resources to respond to the scene.

Once fire screws arrived on scene, two RVs were on fire with fire impinging on to a 120-gallon propane tank. Fire crews worked quickly to knock the fire down to prevent it from spreading to other nearby trailers, the surrounding vegetation and the propane tank. This area is not protected with fire hydrants so two water tenders brought in 6,000 gallons of water to the scene to assist in extinguishing the fire.

A joint investigation was conducted between Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office and Redmond Fire & Rescue to determine the origin and cause of the fire. After conducting witness interviews and evaluating material evidence on scene, it was determined that the fire was intentionally set. The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect and  charged her with Arson I, Criminal Mischief II and Disorderly Conduct II.

Redmond Fire & Rescue would like to thank Bend Fire & Rescue, Cloverdale RFPD, Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance.
