Bend Food Project Nears 2 Million Pounds of Food Collected

The Bend Food Project is about to surpass 2 million pounds of food collected, the equivalent of more than 1.6 million meals, to support local individuals and families facing food insecurity.

The milestone is expected during an upcoming collection day on February 21, 2026 – when hundreds of green reusable bags filled with food will be picked up from porches across Bend and delivered to The Giving Plate.

Now in its 10th year, the Bend Food Project, a division of The Giving Plate, uses a simple neighborhood model: donors fill green bags, leave them on their doorsteps, and volunteers collect them. This approach has grown into a powerful community effort to fight hunger locally.
