Amy Schumer Says “Trainwreck” Is Based on Her Own Dating Life

Universal(NEW YORK) — In Trainwreck, Amy Schumer plays a writer who doesn’t believe in monogamy, until she falls in love with one of her interview subjects. The comedienne, who also wrote the film, said the film is based on her own dating life.

“This is heavily autobiographical,” she said on Thursday’s Live with Kelly and Michael. “Yeah, I am a train wreck.”

In the film, Schumer’s character appears to be scarred by her parents’ divorce and ends up sleeping with a lot of men. Thankfully for Schumer, her family doesn’t care that she’s putting her sexual exploits up on the big screen. “We’re all over-sharers and very honest and open and forgiving and non-judgmental. I’ve got a good crew,” she explained.

Although it doesn’t make it into the film, Schumer described her worst dating experience. ” I went out with a guy and he was asking me date questions. You know, he was like, ‘If you could have lunch with anyone living or dead, who would it be?’ And I said, ‘Mark Twain.’ And he said, ‘No, it has to be somebody real.’ I think he thought I meant Tom Sawyer. But then…and then I had sex with him.”

Trainwreck, also starring Bill Hader and LeBron James, is out Friday.
