Cost Of Two Bulls Fire Efforts To Increase

The Oregon Department of Forestry says the cost of fighting the Two Bulls Fire may be higher than earlier estimated.

Central Oregon District business manager Tracy Wrolson says initial figures are around $5.3 million, but expects to climb by the end of the year.

“You know, when all is said and done, by the time we close the books on this a year from now approximately, we’re probably looking closer to $5.8 to $6 million.”

Wrolson adds that despite the staggering number, the department already budgets for fires.

“An average fire season is what we budget yearly for, so we do have money to be able to handle that situation.”

The latest fire in Deschutes County, the Cabin Lake Fire, burned between 40 and 60 acres in near the Klamath County line on Sunday.
