(FOXBOROUGH, Mass.) — The NFL season kicked off Thursday night with Tom Brady leading the New England Patriots to a 28-21 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
The quarterback’s start Thursday came just a week after a federal judge overturned Brady’s four-game suspension over the Deflategate scandal.
“I love being out there with my teammates playing,” Brady said after the game. “It’s something I really look forward to. I was excited to go out there and certainly to win, to be 1-0.”
Brady went 25 of 32 for 288 yards, throwing three of four touchdown passes to tight end Rob Gronkowski.
Before the kickoff, Patriots owner Robert Kraft showed off the Vince Lombardi Trophy and the team unveiled its Super Bowl 49 Champions banner.
The Patriots will next play the Buffalo Bills on Sept. 20.
