ABC/Lou Rocco(NEW YORK) — Hard as it may be to believe, Bellamy Young, who plays first lady Mellie Grant on ABC’s hit series Scandal, is single and looking.
“That is sadly still true!” she tells ABC Radio of her dating status. “I know! I wish I could tell you otherwise but it’s not. This year has gone by in a blink so I’m not lamenting in any way.”
So what is the actress looking for in Mr. Right? “I like a funny human because funny lasts forever. You know? Funny and smart; it gets me every time,” she says, adding, “And a nice deep speaking voice.”
Although Young keeps busy on set and even in the music studio — she released an album, Far Away So Close, earlier this year — she says she’s looking everywhere for a date, including her set.
“I think usually dating a co-star is a recipe for disaster. But I think the exception proves the rule; you can never say never,” she says.
Scandal returns for its fifth season September 24 at 9 p.m. Eastern.
