Crews Battling Rye Valley Fire In Baker County

HUNTINGTON, OR — Crews are now fighting the Rye Valley Fire, burning 15 miles northwest of the Baker County community of Huntington.  The lightning-sparked fire has burned 1,392 acres and is 20% contained.  Thankfully, no homes or buildings have been lost in the fire.

The Rye Valley Fire is one of about a dozen fires that resulted from lightning activity that passed through the region Tuesday and Wednesday.  Fire officials said favorable weather is expected over the next two days that will help suppression efforts.
