Ford, who turns 74 this coming July, will re-team with Steven Spielberg for a fifth installment of the Indiana Jones series, set to hit theaters July 19, 2019.  Ford will return as Dr. Indiana Jones, while Spielberg will again direct, having been behind the camera for the previous four films.  Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall, who’ve long been involved with the franchise, will produce the movie.

In a statement, Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn said, ““Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen…it’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”

Ford’s intrepid archaeologist Dr. Henry “Indiana” Jones Jr. was created by George Lucas and introduced to audiences in 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark.  He’s since appeared in 1984’s Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, 1989’s Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.  Together, those four films have earned close to $2 billion worldwide.

The character also appeared in a short-lived ABC series called The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, and later in a series of made-for-TV movies.
