L-R: Darrell Hammond as Donald Trump and Dana Carvey as the Church Lady; Dana Edelson/NBC(NEW YORK) — Well, wasn’t that special!  Was that the Church Lady on Saturday Night Live last weekend?

Dana Carvey returned Saturday to the sketch comedy show that launched his career, reprising one of his most famous characters. He resurrected the Church Lady in a sketch in which the uptight host interviews Ted Cruz, played by Taran Killam — or, as the Church Lady introduced him, “Satan.”  She then explained she was only quoting former House Speaker John Boehner, who late last month called Cruz “Lucifer in the flesh.”

Later, Killam departed and Carvey was joined by Darrell Hammond as Donald Trump — aka “the presumptive Republican divorcee” and “the tangerine tornado,” as the Church Lady described him.  Running down his religious creds, Trump said one his favorite parts of the Bible was the part “where Jon Snow comes back to life,” referring to course to Game of Thrones

That finally merited the Church Lady’s signature line: “Well, isn’t that special!”
