Gustafson Has Charges Reduced

011014 GustafsonBEND, OR — The Deschutes County District Attorney’s office announced this week some of the Child Sex Abuse charges filed against a former Bend business owner have been dropped.

Richard Gustafson, 49, the former co-owner of Acrovision Sports Center, was arrested in early January for reportedly sexually abusing two girls during a New Year’s Eve sleepover party at the gymnastics center.  As the investigation continued, more charges were filed against Gustafson.  Eventually, he was charged with 11 counts of 1st Degree Sex Abuse, 122 counts of 2nd Degree Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse, four counts of 1st Degree Encouraging Child Sex Abuse and Cocaine Possession.

This week, the DA’s office said the 122 Encouraging Child Sex Abuse counts had been reduced to 22 counts.  Court documents say some of the child pornography Gustafson allegedly viewed may have taken place out of state.
